The best hotel in Mexico for a holiday devoted to relaxation and nature
Organising a trip to the land of the Maya and looking for the best hotel in Mexico? Jashita Hotel is exactly what you're looking for. Located in the Soliman Bay, one of the loveliest places on the Yucatán peninsula, the resort is the perfect combination of relaxation and adventure, luxurious comfort and untamed nature. You can relax in our wonderful Caoba Spa amongst essential oils and Caribbean fragrances, or dive into the crystal-clear water and explore the colourful world of the coral reef. You can enjoy views of the ocean from the terrace of our exclusive suites and sleep in a magnificent king-size bed in sheets of top-quality Italian cotton, or have fun kayaking or canoeing with friends until sunset.
Another wonderful way to watch the sunset is at our new beach bar. Swaying gently in the swing seats, you can sip a fabulous cocktail prepared with expert skill, while admiring the gorgeous Soliman Bay.
On the tracks of the Maya
But a holiday on Soliman Bay - even if you're staying in Mexico's top hotel - is not complete without at least one excursion to the ruins of the ancient Mayan civilisation. The most important site in this area is undoubtedly Chichen Itza, the city that became a political and cultural centre in approximately 600 AD. The archaeological site is characterised by the large stepped pyramid of Kukulcan, also known as El Castillo, and it brings together a multitude of building styles, from the huge Temple of the Warriors with its adjoining market place, a Great Ball Court and many other structures listed as UNESCO world heritage sites.
Exploring the ruins of Tulum by boat
Tulum, where Hotel Jashita is located, is also rich in evidence of this pre-Columbian civilisation. The name Tulum means "city wall", recalling the still-visible remains of ancient fortifications built by this fascinating people; some sections are yet to be discovered. The ruins stand on a low hill just 9 km from our hotel, and can be reached by car and also by boat, courtesy of our skipper. One of the advantages of our hotel is that we can take our guests to visit the ruins by boat, departing right from our beach. This means the journey to get there is almost as exciting as the ruins themselves.
